Amidst family and some friends, this girl gleefully- and half drunkenly- ushered in what seems poised to be an exciting new year. It was a Princess planned, Prefect documented, this girl cooked-out party that this girl and her family hosted, albeit a little last minute. They were thrilled that they had a good turn out, since it was new year’s eve and they did give very little notice to their guests; which included some old friends visiting from Down under, some others from the other land and some from here and there.
There was the usual mad rush for groceries given their chi chi Japanese themed food menu. Then the kitchen all-aboard cooking madness. There was the lovely long catch up sessions with old friends: the exchange of old stories and fond memories, the sharing of dreams and plans for the new year. There was a flat out fun Relics Vs. Young guns (yes, this girl, along with Smelly Melly, Godbrother were on the Relic team. Princess and Prefect were on the other side) R-O-C-K game that spiraled into a laugh-a-second festival. And also a hilarious Boys Vs. Girls charade stand off, which, the boy won in glorious fashion cos they stumped the girls with “Dangerous Liaisons.” And as the night wore on, and the drinks plied on, there was a crazy school song singing session that had Godbrother do a side-splitting take on “Man Jiang Hong,” an old Chinese war poem. And as the night started to wind down, this girl settled into a comfortable, heartfelt, meaningful long chat with Godbrother about the days past, the time now and this current standing on the edge of such wonder as to where life will take them.
Suffice to say, this girl had a whale of a time. There were live large, live real, live loud moments that made this girl feel totally alive and raring to welcome the new year. Then there were the love simply, love softly, love well moments that made this girl feel absolutely grateful to have had the past year and to be standing exactly where she is right now.
And, with a simple day with the family she can’t thank God enough for, an evening with friends she loves dearly, this girl sits and writes at the end of the first day of what she prays will be a glorious new year.
“Hello 2008, how do you do?”
