Today was the first Sunday of the new year and its always extra meaningful for this girl to be in church on this day. Its a day she sets the tone for her year spiritually. And this time, it was also the first “first Sunday” at Lighthouse; so it was a tad more meaningful for her.
A while back, this girl had read a book called the Lotus and the Cross, a wonderful book by Ravi Zachariah about a make believe conversation between Jesus and Buddha. In it lies one of her all time favourite quotes: “What is Time in the face of Eternity?” Its a simple quote that means a great deal and that was echoed in the simple- but poignant- sermon today: Eternity. And the simple prayer that we’d always consider Eternity in mind in the decisions we make. It was a message that struck a chord with this girl- deeply and resoundingly.
And so, amidst heartfelt time of worship and the timely message, this girl said silent prayers for herself, her family and close friends. It was a precious, precious moment that she was grateful to have had and to have felt so powerfully and completely. To rediscover, in such a personal way, that really the highest place to be is to bowed low before God’s throne.
