(This post was originally written while this girl was in The Other Land. She’s backdating the post.)
This girl and smartest friend find themselves in the familiar waters of unfamiliarity.
It is no wonder that they have to, once again, wing it for their training stint in The Other Land. To be fair to them, they did have a sort of plan, which got changed drastically when they got here. They had planned for a two-day program which they’d co-teach together. Its always fun having a program partner; and its half the work too! So, they prepared resource packs and a rough plan of what they’d like to do, only to have the rug pulled from under them when this girl was asked to run a completely different program concurrently. That meant she had to come up with a whole new syllabus in under 24 hours and not have Smartest Friend to train with for she would have to fend for herself in the original program.
This girl finds it a tad funny because this is a throw back to the first few times she came to The Other Land with The First Brother. The rule for the trips was the same each time: Be prepared for the unexpected, anything can happen. The first trip here, she and her team had prepped to mentor youth leaders at a stay-in facility only to find out upon arrival that they were now bound south to do documentation work in the delta region. On her second trip here, she expected to spend some time in the Home she was working with only to have be hustled off north to do something else. By the third trip, she knew better.
And this current trip marks the girl’s upteenth trip to The Other Land and the Unexpected rule still applies.
Its nice to know some things don’t change. Heh.
