This girl has a confession to make: She cannot spell.
Even when she was in school, she could never spell. She would later realize that she’s probably mildly dyslexic and is downright grateful for spell check and the predictor in her cellphone cos that’s how she figures out things are spelt. Now the plugs words into google and it spits out the correct spelling with their “do you mean____?” function. And most importantly, she has Zwieback who is her default speller-checker. Their conversation, particularly the ones online, are spotted with this girl asking her to spell this that and the other.
On a separate note, of late, this girl has also been inventing and using unwords. Meaning, words that don’t really exist. Which has become common lingo amongst her and her friends. Mainly because she uses them so often and makes it sound like its a real word.
This page is collection of that. Words that are really unwords, and words that she cannot spell.
The unwords
Complicate (n.)
Unlike the verb version of the word as most of us are familiar with, a complicate is a person (a noun in other words) who:
1. Is emotionally complicated and overly convoluted
2. Has complicated life liaisons; either in their relationships, career, family…
3. Allows people around them to drag them into these slightly testy situations
(Note: word is spelt with a capital C)
Andrew perpetually finds himself in all these love triangles, what a complicate!
IntelliGent (n.)
An Intelligent refers to a a person from the male species who is intelligent. And in this case, we are not talking about street smarts or worldly wisdom (hey alliteration!) but the intellectual type. The kind is not just a good conversationalist in the traditional sense, but in the This-Girl sense who, when she says “Nietzsche” doesn’t flinch and asks “who’s that?”.
By and large, real life IntelliGents are far and few betweens and this girl has decided she’d only date this sort. Good luck to her eh?
(Note: word is spelt with a capital I and capital G)
Roger is not only successful and savvy, he’s also able to engage me in a wide array of intellectual banter, he’s a true blue, bona fide IntelliGent.
Declutter
To unclutter something is to rid something of obstructions. To de-clutter, is to get organized by way of packing and putting things in their place. To declutter (note absence of hyphen) is to simplify. It goes beyond the mere “putting things where they should be” and its more than just “getting things out of the way;” its also to achieve a certain clarify and simplicity in the way of being.
Susie has had a tumultuous childhood and constantly finds herself stuck in some emotional jam of sorts, it is recommended that Susie starts decluttering to gain some perspective and peace.
Words she can’t seem to get right
Perpetual
This girl always spells it as perpectual. With an additional C.
